Kraft promo update
Thanks to Utah Deal Diva for this update on the Albertsons/Kraft promo.
I spoke with my contact at Albertson's and she gave me more information regarding the Kraft Promo:Here is the correct address you need to mail the rebate form & receipt to:

If you already mailed in your rebate, the Rebate center in Ohio has been instructed to send them back to the Return address, which is Albertson's corporate in Idaho. They will then forward them along to the Texas address. Please feel free to call 1-877-932-7948 with any concerns.
There are over 1,900 UPC codes that supposedly trigger the $5 catalina & rebate form, however with as many people as we've seen NOT have the forms print, I'm just not sure they're all working! If your $5 coupon or rebate offer does not print, instead of calling Catalina marketing, please call Albertson's at 1-877-932-7948. They want to be kept informed of any issues shoppers are having. They will help you get the $5 coupon and proper rebate form.
She explained to me how this was (hopefully) going to work, and quite honestly, it's a mess. All rebate requests WILL be honored, even if you purchased some of the items not listed on the Kraft Shopping list here. However, it's not clear yet how that will all work and how long it will take. - Make copies of everything before mailing it in. (This really should be done anytime you submit a rebate!)
- In those records, make note of the day you mailed it in. Also, mark on a calendar what date you should receive your rebate by.
- Keep this Albertson's number 1-877-932-7948 in your records so you can easily access it should you receive a rejection letter for your rebate.
Again, these are just my suggestions. Everyone I've spoken with regarding this promo has been very helpful. Yet the bottom line is, there was some serious miscommunication that occurred at some point and it's obvious this promo is problematic! I am choosing the safe route- I'll post some "safe" scenarios shortly!
Important info regarding the Kraft $20 rebate

I've received several emails regarding Albertson's $5 catalina coupons and the mail-in-rebate not printing so I did some research. I've been on the phone all day and while I don't yet have all the answers, I do have some info that might be helpful to anyone wanting to go shopping.
I'm working with several individuals right now at Albertson's and Kraft in trying to figure this out. They are all concerned and are trying to get to the bottom of this! If you've had issues, feel free to leave a comment on this post- they'll see it!
Three pieces of critical information:
Albertson's advertised several items as being part of the
Kraft promo that are not on the "official" Kraft rebate list.

Depending on how your store's receipt shows coupons,
the $25 total could be BEFORE or AFTER coupons!
There are 2 versions of the rebate address floating around
and we still don't know which one is correct.

I spoke with several individuals at Kraft and they confirmed that they WILL NOT honor a $20 rebate request if any of the items purchased are non-participating items.
The list below reflects the participating items and sizes. You can also print a copy here. I suggest taking a copy with you and very carefully make sure you get the correct items listed.
Here is a list of items that are on the Albertson's ad, but are unknown whether or not you'll receive the $20 mail-in rebate if you purchase them:
- Nabisco Go Packs, $1
- Kraft Chips Ahoy cookies, 16 oz variety
- Kraft Grated Parmesan cheese, any variety
- Velveeta 1lb or 2 lb blocks
- Kraft Jell-O or Pudding, boxed variety (only 6-packs included)
- Nabisco Honey Maid Bees, Smores or Morning Sticks variety crackers
- Kraft Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinner or Deluxe Macaroni & cheese, (anything over 7.25 oz)
- Planters Mixed Nuts (only varieties 9.25 oz and over are included)
- A-1 Steak Sauce, any varieties
- General Food Intl Coffee Drink Mix
$25 Total, Before or After Coupons: If your store displays all the coupons redeemed at the bottom of the receipt, then you will be able to submit your rebate for $25 BEFORE coupons. However, if your store displays the coupon right after the line-item amount, then you will have to add up to $25 AFTER coupons.
I think most of us at least here in Utah should still be able to do the $25 before coupons. The only store around here that shows the coupon after the line item is Target.

Rebates
Many of you have inquired about my list on the right sidebar of my blog about the rebates I have received over the years:
2003: $94.70
2004: $475.50
2005: $443.42
2006: $651.63
2007: $564.55
2008: $281.89
As you can see, I am pretty anal about keeping track of where my money goes and comes. Just ask my husband. I figure it all out to the penny, and I always know where my money is going. I believe that is KEY to keeping a budget and living frugally. You can't save if you don't know what you are spending. But that is another post....
I used to do a TON of rebates, mostly through Walgreens and Rite Aid. Four and five years ago the rebates were good and plentiful! But now Walgreens has cancelled their rebate program and that took away much of my earnings. So when I do rebates now, they are mostly through Rite Aid and specific manufacturer offers. So far this year I have earned back $102.62 in rebates and I have several out I am waiting on. Not as much as in years past I know. I have not been as aggressive this year in earning rebates. Family issues, having a baby and other things have been taking up more of my time. BUT it hasn't been a big deal because I have my stockpile built up. So missing a few months doesn't hurt any.
I have always gotten every rebate back because I follow the guidelines. Learn more about rebates HERE.

Rebate on Gerber Graduates Smart Sips
Here is a great tip from a reader I got via email:
Graduates just introduced a shelf milk Like Horizon Milk called Graduates Smart Sips. Some of the packages have a rebate for $3.79 per 3 pack. It's right on the packaging. The store I bought it from is selling them for 3.99 so in the end they will be 20 cents for three shelf milks. I live in Cali so I don't know if it's the same else where but I just bought a bunch and am going to fill out the rebates.

FREE medicine for cold season
RITEAID is having some really good rebates this week on various types of cold medicine and vitamins. There are also a few coupons out there to combine with it for better savings. Rebates
I promised to do a post on rebates, and how they work a few weeks ago. So here goes! If you continue to have questions, post them and I can do an additional post if need be with more information.
There are different kind of rebates. Rebates from the manufacturer of a product, and rebates from the store you purchase the item from. Some rebates you submit online, some you send the documentation through the mail. Rebates are actually very easy to do and take little time to submit. Don't be one of those people who don't take advantage of rebates...they will save you lots of money!
*The most important thing to remember in doing with rebates is KEEPING RECORDS of the information. (If you are sending the rebate through the mail anyway). Never, never send off a rebate without making a copy of what you are sending off. I scan them onto my computer in my and save them to my rebate file. That was I don't have to make actual copies, waste paper and have more clutter. I save the file as (for example) walgreens.sent.9.5.07 so I know when I sent it off. If I don't receive the rebate in the allotted time, then I have record of it and can contact the company and re-submit if needed.
*Another important thing to remember is to READ all the instructions and follow all the directions completely. If you have any questions at all, contact them at the number provided so you can be clear before you go to the work to send it off. Most companies are pretty stiff about keeping to the rules. Exceptions are not allowed.
My favorite way to utilize rebates are to combine them with coupons and other sales. More often than not you can do that. For example, lets say that Walgreens is having a $1 rebate on Degree deodorant this month (this is only an example!). Well, then that week you notice they have a sale on the Degree deodorant, $2 each. You combine that with the rebate and you can get one deodorant for $1 after rebate. Not too bad, right? BUT....there is also a manufacturer's coupon out right now for $1/1 any Degree deodorant. So...combine that with the rebate and you can come away with FREE deodorant after all is said and done!
Another way is to double-up on rebates. This might sound illegal, but let me explain. Let's say that Revlon has a rebate sheet at Rite Aid when you purchase your makeup. It is a rebate for $7 back when you purchase a specific foundation. That rebate is from the manufacturer. It just so happens that also that month, you can get a $5 rebate from Rite Aid for the same Revlon foundation. You get 2 rebates for the same item, it is all good since each rebates is coming from different companies. When you get $12 back for a foundation that only cost you $8 to begin with, see how sometimes rebates are a money-maker? It is so FUN!
It might sound complicated, but it really isn't. Companies provide rebates as incentives to purchase their products. I read an article that said about 70% of the time consumers forget to send in the rebate or complete the forms wrong. SO many people are missing out of free stuff!
All this is one reason I like to frequent this site. Like most of you, I don't have a tone of time to search for rebates and find what sales and coupons they combine with. These guys do that work for you. I just check periodically to see what has been listed. YOU CAN STILL DO THIS even if you don't have much extra time on your hands!
The best and easiest places to get going with rebates is Rite Aid and Walgreens. Both do a monthly rebate program. Check the links for monthly details and products included. Since doing these rebates for the past 5 years, I have gotten so much free or nearly free (mostly .25 or less) things to stock my 72 hour kits with, our food storage, stockpile, and even give away to charity. Things like deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene, foot care, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, candles, dish washing detergent....NEED I GO ON? These programs are simple too good to pass up...give them a try before you knock them!
Rite Aid rebates can be done online, which is wonderful as there is nothing to send in the mail. I usually get my rebates back from them in 3 weeks or less. Really fast! Walgreens takes a bit longer, as you have to send it through the mail. But once you get the system down, it doesn't take much time at all. Just don't forget to request your rebate in time.
I personally really like Rite Aid because it is so much faster and can be submitted online. The link above will tell you about the rebate programs and how they work. Or, you can go into any Rite Aid store and pick up their monthly rebate catalog that they have in the store. Everything is explained. You purchase the required item, come home, register for their online rebate program, submit your receipt, and whalla! You are done. They usually take a few days to email you letting you know if your rebate was approved, and then it stays in your rebate account until you request your check. It's that simple!
Walgreens works the same way, except it is all on paper and submitted through the mail, so it takes a bit longer. And, they have specific rules on how to record your rebates on the receipts and their form, so read the directions carefully from their store link above, or from the rebate booklet in the store.
If you are wanting to do this, my suggestions are:
1. Organize your shopping trips. Make sure you aren't making a special trip. Go to that store when you are going that way anyway. Have your coupons, list and rebate information planned out and ready.
2. Know approx. what you will be spending in case there is a price mistake. It is always better to fix it before you leave, rather than finding it when you get home. Always check your receipt before you leave the store. Mistakes do happen.
3. Double check before you purchase the item that it is that one on the rebate list. Sometimes stores make mistakes with labeling.
4. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you can't find an item in the store. Rite Aid and Walgreens employees are really good about helping you out.
5. ALWAYS make copies of your receipts and/or information before you send it off.
6. Keep track of when you are supposed to send off your rebates so you don't miss the deadline. Use a regular schedule so you don't forget. Work it into your regular routine.

Walgreens
Walgreens has a super rebate program every month. Combine these with coupons and other rebates and you will make $$ on the deals! Here was my shopping trip this morning:
2 Pantene texturize bottles (shampoo and conditioner)
1 Aquafresh toothbrush
1 box Contact solution
1 Rimmel foundation
Total at the resister (after coupons): $25.76
Rebate amount I will be getting back: $24.96
Total of .80 for all that! Amazing, huh!

Rite Aid also has a fabulous monthly rebate program. They are a little different, as you can do their program electronically versus Walgreens that is through the mail. Anyhoo, I will do another post about Rite Aid another time. No need to cause confusion!
I have been able to really stock up my food storage with hygiene items this way. I have around 200 toothbrushes, at least a year or more of toothpaste stocked and TONS of deodarant. Even baby supplies, shampoo & conditioner, shavers.....need I go on? It is nice being able to donate to the food bank, and the LDS hygiene kits without breaking the bank. It is great getting this stuff for free! A few months ago at Rite Aid I got Venus Breeze razor for free after I used a coupon, and I still got a $4 rebate back from them 3 weeks later. So I ended up $4 ahead. AWESOME!
These rebate deals go through September at Walgreens. If you would like to know the current coupons that go with these items to make the deal sweeter (like I got) let me know and I can post it.
